The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Ok, for me that is fall. I just love it! So, I begged and pleaded with my family to make time for a little drive up to the mountains this weekend. I feel this incredible sense of urgency to get out there with my camera before it's too late!

We found a lovely little spot by a river and had a picnic dinner and everyone indulged me in my need to seek out the perfect tree, leaf, etc, etc. Here are some of my favorites.

A couple cute shots of the family.

Gavin insisted on taking the camera for a picture of me. Always nice to have proof I was alive that day! :)

And this is my favorite for the day. Destined to be a favorite family picture spot. Enjoy!

Sweet Six Months

I really can't believe Katherine is already 6 months old! I'm hoping the next six months go by more slowly. I'm loving this baby stage. At least I should remember more about this next six months since we're getting more sleep nowadays, right?

We had a mini photo shoot to capture Katie's cuteness right now. I love, love, love this picture of her. So sweet, and so her. She always has her fingers, thumb - the more the merrier in her mouth right now.

Some of Katie's favorite things right now are: Mom, sucking her thumb, playing with Eleanor, laying on her back and kicking those feet, splashing in the bath and peek-a-boo with Dad. She's such a joy to us and we're so proud of Eleanor for taking on the big sister role (and sharing the spotlight) so well.

My Own Knockoff

I saw this cute owl purse on Kade Spade's website and thought I could try making my own. Fun fall fashion accessory, no?

Here is my version... A little bit different, definitely not quite so ooh-la-la, but not $400 either! :) I think it will be a fun bag. The floral bit is corduroy and I think I have just enough left to make Eleanor a fall skirt. Maybe she can pull off bright red tights with it too.

Don't Fence Me In

We had to commit one day to labor over Labor Day weekend, but to even things out we took all day Saturday for an adventure. We went up to Fairplay along a beautiful mountain road. First we went to South Park City, a restored mining town with a train, school, and lots of great period buildings, clothes, etc. Eleanor loved ringing the school bell. Seeing the one room trapper's cabin was a great reminder of the comfort we enjoy now. And boy am I glad I didn't have babies back then!

We had lunch at a park in Fairplay then went on to Woodland Park. Did some geocaching and stopped to get yummy Snickerdoodle Ice Cream at the Donut Mill. If you're ever in Woodland Park - don't miss this place. Donuts the size of your head, yummy ice cream, and smothered breakfast burritos. Apparently a winning combination! It was a fun day. The girls did great on our 300 mile round trip. Here are a few of the photogenic spots I caught throughout the day.
