Snow Day

We got plastered with snow yesterday. Literally - doesn't it look like our fence got hit with a hopper instead of a snowstorm.

I'm always a sucker for snow pictures, snow days, hot chocolate, hmmm. Love it. I just find it strange that that always happens in March here in Colorado.

Odyssey of the Mind

Eleanor joined an Odyssey of the Mind team through school this year. They've worked all year on a performance with the theme "Surprise Party." The idea is to get unique, kid-driven ideas. They come up with the concept, script, costumes and everything themselves.

So, here is the video of their cute performance. In case you can't follow it, all the animals make unusual sounds and are going to a suprise party for the dog who just learned to quack that morning. You don't have to watch the end, but the judges come out and talk to the kids to find out how much they really did themselves. Eleanor has loved participating and is looking forward to next year.

Birthday Cake

Here it is, the Birthday Cake teardown! Wow, Katie had fun with this.

Here is the lovely little cake we started with. You should try making these chocolate butterflies from the Hello Cupcake book - they are really easy and cute.

So, here are the first moments with the cake. She obviously didn't appreciate the chocolate butterflies so much.

Here is what happened after that first piece made it into her mouth.

And here she is with her Happy-I-Can't-Believe-my-Parents-are-Letting-me-do-This look! We ended the day with Bath #2, of course. That was probably her favorite part.

Happy Birthday Baby

We had so much fun celebrating Katie's birthday! I think the highlights for her were a bubble bath, swinging in her new baby swing, trying to eat all the rocks under the swingset, playing with balloons, and digging into the cake.

Love the textures here. Especially with the squishy baby tummy and toes!
We'll let these cute clean pictures stand on their own for a day or so before we bring out the birthday cake teardown!

Poofy Preview

You know your skirt is poofy when...

It stands up by itself!

I made this pettiskirt for Katie's birthday outfit. Had to share, cause I just can't stand how cute and poofy it is. I may just be crazy enough to make one more for Eleanor and then I'll retire from poofy skirt making and let people sell them for $70 and consider it a deal!

Can't wait for the 1 year old photo shoot - coming soon!

Fun Project

I made this fun laptop cozy for my brother's birthday. I might be in trouble posting this now, since I have 5 siblings, including one with a birthday this weekend. So David, take a raincheck? I don't think this would fit your guitar. :)

It was a fun little sewing project. You can find directions here: Sketch laptop.
