A New Project

I had to share this fun new project I've tried. This is my second Pointy Kitty. Isn't it cute? I made another for my niece Madalyn. She couldn't stop talking about it - which is pretty amazing for a 5 week old! :)
Since people accuse me too often of being very creative, I'll share the pattern which I found free here: http://weewonderfuls.typepad.com/wee_wonderfuls/store/pointykitty.html

Dust off the sewing machine and give this a try. It only took me a couple hours and would be faster if you're good at hand-sewing.

A Cousin Reunion

We took another trip out to Utah this month so Eleanor could be there with all her cousins, actually everyone in Gavin's family was there except for him! Grandma and Grandpa planned lots of fun activities for the kids to do together. First was the Children's Museum in Salt Lake:

Eleanor's favorite thing was floating things up the wind tunnel.

The little "grocery store" full of fake food was so fun. She's charging Grandma $5.50 here.

Eleanor and Grandpa giving the evening news together. She even read the teleprompter!

The cousins got to work together to build a great city.

The next day the older cousins got to walk in the Children's Parade downtown. There was all kinds of free fun and goodies at the Civic Center afterward.

Little parade watchers Isaac, Addie, and Maddie.

Got to hang out with Jessica over the weeekend too. Thanks for always being a willing DI shopper!

We went swimming at Cherry Hills, saw some Monet's and Picasso's at the U's Art Museum, took some pictures of baby Maddie (still to come) and all the cousins together. Overall, it was a fantastic trip!

My Brother's Wedding

Before their 1st anniversary in a couple days (ok, 1 month anniversary) I thought I'd better post some pictures from David and Megan's wedding. It was great to be there for the festivities, be together with the family, and gain a fun new sister-in-law. I wasn't the official wedding photog, so I just snapped a few pictures for my scrapbook - ok, and because I can't help it! :)

A Look at the Lyons

Here's a glimpse at the fun pictures we came away with from the Lyon's family picture shoot last night. Aren't they such a handsome family? Hurray for more practice with boys. :)

It was a treat to get this cute grin!

I've noticed a trend in my family picture-taking experience that husbands do not like having their picture taken. Jason - you did great, but I've noticed this unease is almost universal. So, men, if you have a family session coming up - you know who you are... practice some PDA with your wife! I'm sure she won't mind. It will make for great pictures, and I promise to try to use my zoom lens so as not to be in your face. Deal?

A Fun Comparison

While up at RMNP last weekend, I was telling Eleanor the story of when we went up to there to take a family picture when she was a baby. We couldn't find a place to get out of the car because there were elk everywhere! Well, we passed the same spot and quickly pulled over for a retake! Good to keep a tripod with you all the time. So, here is our family 5 years apart. Please keep in mind the first picture we brushed our hair for and the second was after two days of camping!

This just proves I have a thing for t-shirts and hooded sweaters.

Happy 4th of July

We enjoyed the Estes Park fireworks this year while camping up at RMNP. I forgot a technique or two I wanted to try while taking pictures of the fireworks. So, I guess there's always next year. Or the 24th of July in Utah, if we get out there. Took these with a tripod and 8 second exposures. Love that we celebrate freedom by blowing things up!

Some cool Pictures

I've definitely had a lot of practice taking cutesy girl pictures - thanks to my model at home. But capturing the cool boy shot is a different ballgame. Thanks Elizabeth for letting me get some practice on your boys!
