I've Got Wheels!

I'm really excited I got a new bike today. It's a pretty white Schwinn, all it needs is a basket. :) After we got it home I went riding into the sunset - literally, it was a gorgeous one! I was figuring the last time I rode a bike (except for an exercise bike) was about 15 years ago. I know, Jenny you can hardly own me as a sister. Thankfully, what they say is true and I figured it out pretty well, although 21 speeds is about 15 too many for me. Looking forward to some family biking adventures this summer.

A Memorable Day

We decided to take off for a little adventure on Memorial Day. Can't actually remember ever doing this together... without family visiting, that is. So, we headed down to Colorado Springs for the day Monday. We started at Garden of the Gods. Finally the rain gods cooperated, since we've been rained out there twice before, and it was beautiful.

After a picnic, we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It was fantastic! Rochelle told me before how much they like it. I think it was better than the Denver Zoo. They even have pony rides for kids! I got some of my favorite animal pictures yet.

Moral Dilemma?

Yesterday we walked past this crate. We thought it was laugh-out-loud funny. What would you do? and What do you suppose is in there?

Quality in Quantity

I just taught the YW that you should take a lot of pictures (at high quality) because space is cheap and practice makes perfect. Gavin can testify that I practice what I preach in that area. After all, he arranges for the storage space for all my files! Within the last two weeks I've taken over 1,000 pictures! I think there are some quality shots in there somewhere. Now that its nice and green outside, family picture season has arrived, so I've had several sessions lately. Then, I went to Utah to take Bridal pictures for my future sister-in-law. While there we just had to photograph our new little niece... and the cousins... You get the picture, no pun intended, of course. So, I'm way behind in blogging even a sampling of these pictures, but I'll attempt to catch up.

I'm dying to post the bridal pictures to get some feedback, but I can't let my brother see them before the wedding next month. Any solutions?

A New Way to See the World

So, about a year ago I was outside in the front yard when this car with a Google sign drove through the cul-de-sac with a strange apparatus strapped to the top. Sure enough, it was taking pictures for Google's new Street View option on Google Maps. Go check it out, it is awesome! And, you can see me on our front porch if you type in our address. :) We've already found both the grandparents houses on there too.

A Fourth Judge

Here's Eleanor's insights after watching the last bit of American Idol with me last night. Watching David Archuleta sing, she said, "He seems like a happy guy." And after David Cook sang his last number she said, "David Cook has a strong voice." Pretty insightful I thought... maybe they should add a fourth judge to the panel.

A Springtime Adventure

I took the opportunity yesterday to enjoy the gorgeous spring day and do some reconnaissance for picture spots. Eleanor and I went out to several parks in Longmont looking for pretty flowering trees and the like.

We decided to take a walk at Golden Ponds. After we got out of the car I wanted to get closer to the water to take a picture of the pelicans. We must have been a bit too close to a nest or something because some geese started chasing us and hissing. After escaping the geese we did see some cute baby geese, whose parents weren't nearly so protective!

I stopped to take these pictures and didn't notice I was standing on a red ant hill. Something starting stinging like crazy on my foot. A red ant crawled in my shoot and was biting me through my sock, which hurt like crazy for about 3 hours. There were ants all over my pant leg and shoe. I thought I brushed them all off, but one managed to find it's way under my shirt and bit me right between my shoulder blades. I'm sure people wondered what that crazy lady was fishing for under there. So, enjoy the pictures. They were hard won.
